Welcome to the January issue of "Reconnecting." and a very Happy New Year to you!

Thank you so much to all of you who responded to my first newsletter with such positive comments and feedback. The message on gratitude particularly seemed to touch many of you (see December issue ). It truly is one of the most profound tools available to us for our own healing processes right now.

I don't know about you but I found Christmas and the New Year to be a strange time. I was very aware of needing to just 'be' with whatever came up, and to release resistance. Suddenly it now feels as if things are beginning to unfold, after a time of turning inward during the darkest days of the year. I do have a strong sense of 2006 being a very exciting year to come and the key for me is the connections I have with others. When we know that we are all truly connected, anything becomes possible. Doors open, links are made, paths intersect and we begin to see that we really are not alone on this journey.

When I'm truly excited about life, and when things are flowing beautifully, this is when I feel deeply connected to the Universe. And, by a happy coincidence, when I feel deeply connected to the Universe, I'm excited about life and things flow beautifully!

So how can we feed the connections between us, and build or maintain that sense of connectedness? Maybe it's to do with opening to more of ourselves, to sharing just that little bit more of who we are with those around us. Maybe it's about noticing the incredible 'coincidences' and synchronicities in our lives a little more often.

And maybe it's about sharing what we have and what we know with others, and in the process, receiving more than we could ever imagine.

"Energy Medicine"

If you sometimes find yourself tangled up in your thoughts and unable to see things clearly, here's a quick tip to help focus your mind, untie the knots and bring clarity:

• Place your right foot over your left knee. Wrap your left hand around your right ankle and your right hand around the ball of your right foot

• Breathe in slowly through your nose, letting the breath lift your body as you breathe in. At the same time, pull your leg toward you, creating a stretch. As you exhale, breathe out of your mouth slowly, letting your body relax. Repeat this slow breathing and stretching 4-5 times.

• Switch to the other foot. Place your left foot over your right knee. Wrap your right hand around your left ankle and your left hand around the ball of your left foot. Use the same breathing as above.

• Uncross your legs and place your fingertips together forming a pyramid. Bring your thumbs to rest on your 'third eye' just above the bridge of your nose. Breathe slowly in through your nose. Then breathe out through your mouth, allowing your thumbs to separate slowly across your forehead, pulling the skin.

• Bring your thumbs back to the third eye position. Slowly bring your hands down in front of you, pulling them together into a prayer position while breathing deeply. Surrender into your own breathing.
